The Village Market ATL

Turning a Community Platform Into a Cultural Powerhouse

The Client

The Village Market ATL

The Village Market ATL is a purpose-driven brand that champions Black entrepreneurship, culture, wellness, and economic empowerment. Founded by Dr. Lakeysha Hallmon, it began as a quarterly marketplace in Atlanta and has since evolved into a nationally recognized platform for conscious Black business and community storytelling.

The Challenge

Before partnering with LOWKEY, The Village Market’s content lacked strategic intention. Their feed was mostly made up of reposted material and missed opportunities to engage with local news or original community-centered content. Post-COVID, their signature in-person marketplace events were paused — leaving a gap in how the brand physically showed up. The challenge: keep the spirit of the Village alive online, even when the in-person connection had been interrupted.

The Transformation

The Transformation

  • Developed a cohesive brand identity and visual system to bring clarity and originality to the digital space

  • Created a structured weekly content cadence focused on key themes (Black entrepreneurship, politics, wellness, cultural moments)

  • Launched a signature Small Business Saturday video series, intentionally spotlighting local Atlanta entrepreneurs

  • Repositioned the brand as a go-to source for uplifting Black business and cultural content year-round

  • Provided content leadership that helped sustain visibility and relevance as the brand expanded into retail with The Village Retail (a physical storefront in Ponce City Market)

The Results

  • First Small Business Saturday video surpassed 250K views

  • Grew the brand’s digital following past the 100K milestone

  • Reestablished Village Market as a cultural pillar — even in the absence of in-person events

  • Created viral momentum around small business storytelling, building deeper community trust and connection

The Client Feedback

“LOWKEY took us from reposts to real storytelling. The content now feels intentional, rooted in community, and aligned with our mission. The brand development has been phenomenal — and the Small Business Saturday series is a hit. People follow us now just to see who we spotlight next.”
